Nottingham has a rich sporting history, from famed European Cup football wins and unforgettable Ashes matches to legendary local figures such as Brian Clough and Bendigo.
In keeping with the city’s sporting heritage, NTU and UoN come face to face every year in our annual Notts Varsity sporting series.
This two-week celebration of sporting talent is a classic tale of local rivalry dating back to the first Varsity football event in 2001, and brings together students from both universities to compete at the city’s top venues.
Fan favourites like ice hockey and basketball will be showcased alongside futsal and table tennis as our students battle it out for the 2024 Varsity winner title.
UoN won the series in 2023. Will they retain the title, or will NTU rise up to take the trophy?
Time will tell, but you can watch it all happen live, starting Monday 12 February when the teams face off over the ice in The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham.
Even if sport isn’t your thing, Varsity has its own brand of unique tension, excitement and atmosphere. It’s where sporting rivalries battle it out in the ultimate showdown. So make sure you’re there to cheer your team to victory at one of the biggest events of the year.
